The advisor service is editorially independent of any tutoring or admissions agency. We do not sell tutoring, we do not represent a specific school, and we do not place students in any particular preparation programme. The advisor’s job is to listen, ask the right questions, and point you to the verified UKMT and BMO Subtrust resources for your year group and target competition.

Written exchanges in English or Chinese welcomed. Hours are Asia/Shanghai timezone working days; messages outside hours receive a holding reply within one working day.

The Advisor Service in Five Lines

  • Who answers

    Mr Mei and senior pathway advisors

    The advisor service is overseen by the BMO Pathway Guide editorial team. First responses are from a senior pathway advisor; complex eligibility or preparation questions are escalated to the editor where needed.

  • Response time

    One working day for first reply

    Asia/Shanghai hours, working days. Messages outside hours receive a holding reply within one working day. Complex consultations on BMO eligibility or stage selection may take longer to research and draft.

  • Languages

    English or Chinese, in writing

    Written exchanges in either language are welcome. We do not offer voice calls or video consultations — the WhatsApp written channel is the only one supported. This is by design: written records are easier to verify and easier to refer back to.

    Pathway, eligibility, preparation

    What we cover: UKMT competition selection (which stage, which event, which year), BMO eligibility (UK nationality, discretionary entry), preparation pathways (books, courses, time budgets), and the route from BMO Round 1 to IMO Team UK.

    What we do not cover

    We do not provide tutoring, do not represent any specific school or programme, do not place students in any particular preparation course, and do not negotiate admissions on a student’s behalf.
